Martin Dubravka joins Man United - Arrives on loan from Newcastle United
Manchester United have signed goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on loan from Newcastle United. . Man United will have an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season. It will also be the final deal for manager Erik ten Hag this summer.
“To be joining Manchester United is a special moment in my career and I can’t wait to get started, and help the group achieve its ambitions," Dubravka said. “I am joining an excellent group of goalkeepers with lots of experience in the Premier League, and I know that we will push and support each other to keep our standards at the highest levels. The chance to work with David De Gea, alongside Tom Heaton, is one that I am relishing."
Signing a new goalkeeper has been a top priority for Ten Hag. The Dutch manager wants a keeper who can push David de Gea for playing time this season. Earlier in the summer, the Red Devils made a significant offer for German national team goalkeeper Kevin Trapp. Trapp, however, rejected a rumoured €11 million a season deal to play Champions League with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Dubravka to Man United - 130 games for Newcastle
Dubravka initially joined Newcastle on loan from Sparta Prague in 2018 for €2 million, and his deal was made permanent for an additional €4 million six months later. The Slovakian goalkeeper managed 37 clean sheets in 130 games for the Magpies but has been without a game this season.
